Serial ATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is a data bus which has originally been developed for exchanging data between a processor and a mass storage device such as a hard disk or optical drive. A SATA host adapter is integrated into most modern laptop and desktop computers though for older models an adapter is required to convert the 5.25 power connection to a SATA.
