‘Outdoor’ WLAN socket: the way to smart garden lighting
At Christmas time, you sit down in the living room and let your gaze wander over the garden or patio… and you don’t see a thing – because once again, you have forgotten to switch on the light chains outside.
With the practical and easy-to-install retrofit solutions from Hama, you can add WiFi to many of your devices – without having to think about suitable cabling during home renovation or construction.
Whether it’s Christmas lighting, summer LED lampions or a lawn sprinkler: With the garden socket, the devices can be conveniently controlled by app and using your voice, without having to leave the comfort of your sofa.
The easy way to a WiFi-controlled garden:
simple installation with no gateway
The WLAN-enabled outdoor socket establishes a direct connection to the router without an additional hub. No building measures or additional devices are required, saving you time and money. Within just a few minutes, you have integrated your outdoor lighting or your gardening equipment into the WLAN, and can immerse yourself in your very individual light worlds via app and voice control, or run your lawn sprinkler in the early hours of the morning in summer.
Protection against water splashes thanks to IP44
Downpours or water splashes from a lawn sprinkler or from jumping into a pool won’t cause the garden socket any harm. The WLAN socket with its rubberised lid is protected from splashing water in accordance with protection class IP44. So when it’s raining, there’s no need to worry about a short circuit, or to unplug or cover up the WLAN socket.
From the WLAN outdoor socket to the smart home:
Different products can be combined as required
The Hama Smart Home app makes the smart home possible: All Hama smart home products can be connected with one another. You can thus combine a variety of products and enjoy the convenience that smart equipment offers, in addition to special effects. Do you also have smart home products from other manufacturers? They, too, can be linked with all compatible smart home products via Amazon’s Alexa and the Google Assistant.
Control outdoor lighting and gardening equipment intuitively by app and using your voice
Enjoy your magical Christmas lighting in the garden, without having to go out into the cold to switch it on or off. The times for the outdoor lighting to switch on or back off are simply set using the app. There’s a shower in the morning so you don’t need to use the lawn sprinkler? Then simply switch it off from the office using the Hama Smart Home app.
Voice control using Amazon’s Alexa or the Google Assistant enables convenient operation of the devices connected to the WLAN outdoor socket. It also means, for example, easier garden maintenance for people with physical disabilities and the elderly.
Good news:
All Hama Smart Home products can now be controlled not only with Alexa and the Google Assistant, but also with the voice assistant Siri.
1 Create a scene
The Siri Shortcuts function enables the control of smart scenes that first have to be created. For this purpose, create a scene in the usual way that you want to activate with Siri. The existing process remains unchanged.
2 Open Siri Shortcuts
In the app The overview page displays all set-up scenes. You will find the new ‘Siri Shortcut’ button in the lower right-hand area. Tap the button.
3 Select the scene you want
A page opens, on which you can add your scenes to a Siri Shortcut. To do so, press the plus sign next to the relevant scene.
4 Create a shortcut
You can now create the shortcut. To do so, enter the wording for the command that is to be used to start this scene. If, for example, you have created a scene for a film night and would like to add it to the Siri Shortcuts, a suitable command would be ‘Start the film night’. Once you have tapped ‘Add to Siri’, you can then simply say to Siri, ‘Hey Siri, start the film night’. Siri will then run the ‘Film night’ scene from the Hama Smart Home app.
Additional tip: To control individual devices with Siri, simply create short scenes that are responsible only for switching on, switching off or switching over the individual device, and add them to Siri. ‘Fan on’, ‘Light off’, ‘Hey Siri, see to the light’ – there are no limits to your imagination!
Increased protection against contact: safety for children and animals
The increased protection against contact prevents unintentional contact with live components – for example, if children poke with a screwdriver or knitting needle, or animals poke with their claws. Therefore, you can let children and animals romp in the garden without any concerns.
An eye on energy usage and costs thanks to the app
Using the free app, you can have push notifications sent to your smartphone when a device that you are operating via the WLAN socket is switched on. You thus have a full overview of the current status and always know – even when you’re away from home – which device is currently switched on, even though it should actually be switched off. You can then conveniently switch off these devices using the app.
But the app also enables you to turn the socket into a timer. So if you would like the patio lighting to be on only from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm, you can set this with the timer. This saves time and money.
