When building a house, buying a flat or renovating, not everyone thinks of installing the foundations for smart home systems, such as appropriate cabling and switching systems, straight away. Thanks to sophisticated and easy-to-use retrofit solutions, this is not necessary. Instead of equipping the entire home expensively with a smart home system, you pick out only the best parts that you would really like to use.
If you spend your evening chilling on the sofa with a cup of tea or playing with the children, then it quickly gets dark in winter. But you don’t want to leave the comfortable seat of your sofa or interrupt the funny game. With the WLAN lamp, you can bring light into the darkness very easily and conveniently by app – and exactly as you would like to have your lighting – without being dependent on voice control with the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. If you want, you can of course switch on the light by voice command, using a smart speaker.
Conveniently control the light while travelling
You are travelling with the children to the countryside to spend a long weekend with Grandma, but have foolishly left the smart ceiling light on in the living room. Any other lamp would burn the entire weekend, 24 hours a day, and eat up electricity at quite a rate. But thanks to WiFi, you can simply open the app en route and switch off the lamp. Your energy balance is in credit again. By controlling light as needed, you save energy; this applies not only when you are away from home, but also when you are within your own four walls.
Gentle wake-up with a simulated sunrise
The alarm clock shrills, the radio blares, the harsh light dazzles – in most cases, this is how we wake up in the morning. Children, in particular, are rudely awoken in this way. Therefore, the starry sky lamp is particularly useful in bedrooms and children’s rooms. This is not just because of the stylish glitter effect: Using the app, you can set up the lamp so that it gradually becomes brighter (from 2200 K pleasant warm white to 6500 K daylight to wake you up). This setting may be a little tricky – you can simply select a brightness level if you prefer – but it’s worth it. The feeling evoked by sunrise, accompanied by the delicate sound of twittering birds from the smartphone promotes a much more relaxed and healthier start to the day.
Simple installation without a hub
Many smart home products require an additional gateway that functions as a transmitter between the wireless network and device. Without this gateway (also bridge or hub), a connection cannot be established between the smartphone/tablet and smart device (smartphone/tablet – WiFi – gateway/bridge – smart device). Here, Hama has a clever and practical solution: The smart home ceiling light has no gateway and can be integrated directly into your wireless network – this simplifies installation and saves additional costs.

All Hama Smart Home products can now be controlled not only with Alexa and Google Assistant, but also with the Siri voice assistant.
1. Create a scene
The Siri Shortcuts function allows previously created smart scenes to be controlled. To do this, create a corresponding scene as usual that you want to activate via Siri. This process works unchanged.
2. Open Siri Shortcuts
On the overview page with all the programmed scenes, you will find the new "Siri Shortcut" button at the bottom right. Tap it.
3. Select the scene you want
Now a page opens where you have the option to add your scenes to a Siri Shortcut. To do this, press the plus sign next to the corresponding scene.
4. Create a shortcut
Now you can create the corresponding shortcut. To do this, define which command in the wording is to be used to start this scene. For example, you can turn your living room into a home cinema with just one short command.
Additional tip: To control individual devices via Siri, simply create short scenes that are only responsible for switching on, off or even switching over the individual device and add them to Siri accordingly. "Fan on", "Lights off", "Hey Siri, take care of the lights" - there are no limits to your imagination! In the video, our professional explains how easy it is to set up voice assistants in the app.
Scenes & automations for maximum convenience
Our WiFi ceiling light offers entirely different uses and functions if you connect it with other smart home products or set particular scenes. This is very easy to do with our app.
The light in the bedroom dazzles you in the morning. Therefore, instead of switching on the light, you shuffle to the bathroom in the dark, even though you could potentially injure yourself. You then routinely forget to switch it off when leaving the house, and the light is left on the entire day. These everyday manual actions can be perfectly automated with smart home systems.

Scenarios make life easier
‘Morning’ scenario: You have an exciting day ahead of you. Your WiFi lamp in the bedroom switches on at sunrise at 10% brightness, and gets brighter every minute. A gentle and stress-free start to the day!
‘Evening’ scenario: The strenuous day draws to an end – at sunset, your smart products make your home feel relaxing. The lighting is switched on at 30% brightness and your smart sound system plays relaxing music. Perfect for switching off from work.
‘Relaxation’ scenario: Always the perfect atmosphere for relaxing – with just one click, you can have your WiFi lamps give off soft, warm light in any of your rooms and can play relaxation music through a smart speaker at the desired volume level. With smart heating control, you can also heat your home to the temperature you find most comfortable. You thus create the perfect atmosphere for enjoying your free time.
Automation through combination of products
Do you find yourself having to go down to the basement at least three times to check whether the washing machine has finished? How lovely it would be if you could be notified when the machine has finished washing. Our WiFi socket with electricity usage monitoring, in combination with a WiFi lamp comes into play here. You can link both products into a scene so that the lamp lights up as soon as your washing is finished. In addition, you can of course have a notification sent to your smartphone.
The inner depths of your wardrobe are poorly lit? Install a WiFi lamp or a lamp connected to WiFi socket in the wardrobe. Then connect it to a WiFi door/window contact, which you fit to the wardrobe doors. Now when you open the wardrobe, the light shines: Your favourite skirt and cosy hoodie suddenly appear out of the dark again. Seen enough of your untidy wardrobe? When you close the doors, the light goes out again.
