You’re heading home in winter after a day at work: You’re looking forward to a cosy evening with a nice cup of tea and a good book in a comfortably warm living room. But when you open the door, you are greeted by icy cold air because you forgot to turn on the heating in the morning. Make it easy for yourself – true to the motto ‘Made simple’. With our smart home heating control, you can set up various heating scenarios; but you can also change the settings spontaneously from anywhere. With these automated heating cycles, you can easily save a lot of energy.
Always the ideal comfort temperature
Too warm, too cold – if you are constantly adjusting the heating because you can never achieve the right temperature, then it’s time for smart radiator thermostats. You can then set your preferred comfort temperature for every room in your home – the living room, bedroom or the children’s room. And you can set it for specific times: The temperature in the living room should be a cosy 24 degrees when you get home from work.
A symbiosis of comfort and energy efficiency
With smart heating, you not only gain a high degree of comfort: By setting heating cycles, you also reduce your heating costs. An energy saving of up to 30 percent is possible when you switch from manual control.
This is achieved through more efficient heating; for example:
The temperature is automatically reduced when the window is opened.
When a set temperature is reached, the heating switches off.
The temperature is automatically lowered when you’re not at home.

Installation with central control unit
Retrofitting your heating control with WLAN is not complicated. You merely have to replace your existing radiator thermostat with the new smart thermostat. To turn your heating control into a WLAN heating control system that can be used to operate the smart thermostats, a control centre is needed. This control centre establishes the connection to your network. A clever and practical solution: Hama supplies the central control unit with the smart thermostats. In this way, the smart home radiator thermostats can be installed within minutes. Other Smart Home radiator thermostats can be made familiar with the central control unit at the touch of a button. With the included adapters, the radiator controllers will fit all common radiator valves, such as Danfoss RA, RAV, Caleffi and Giacomini.
Can be expanded as required
The starter set comprises the central control unit and two heating controllers. It can be expanded to include any number of thermostats – you probably want to integrate more than two radiators into your smart home. All Hama Smart Home products can be operated using the Hama Home app, and can be connected with one another. If you already have smart home products from a different manufacturer and they are compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, they too can be combined using the voice assistants.
Intuitive control by app and using your voice
While sitting on the sofa, simply tell your heating to switch on; or tell it to heat up the room by an extra one degree. The heating can be controlled by voice using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. In the same way, you can change the settings spontaneously using the app – including remotely. For example, you’re at a Christmas market and are frozen to the bone; you tell your heating to heat the living room to a warm 25°C.
Smart and simple
The smart heating controllers can be operated, as usual, using a knob. The LED display only goes on when you turn the knob. The installation looks stylish; the thermostat blends in harmoniously with the home design.
‘Away’ mode for holidays, etc.
What should you do with the heating when you’re on a skiing holiday and want to prevent the temperature in your home from becoming too low? Simply activate the ‘Away’ mode, and the temperature in your home is kept at a constant 16 degrees. This prevents frozen pipes, for example, and still saves heating costs.

Our WLAN heating control offers entirely different uses and functions if you connect it with other smart home products or set particular scenes. Scenarios make life easier
‘Automatically adjust temperature’ scenario: Adjust your heating control to your daily schedule: Have the temperature in your home automatically raised to 23 degrees in the morning, and lowered to 17 degrees at bedtime. Smart heating control makes these automatic heating cycles possible. You can set up your heating scenarios to suit your daily routine, and in this way, save energy and reduce heating costs.
Automations in combination with other products
Combination with a door/window contact: If you have a WLAN window contact on your window, you can connect it to the smart thermostat. As soon as you open the window or patio door, the heating switches off. In this way, energy does not escape out of the window – the environment and your wallet will thank you.
Geofencing
Everyone is focusing on heating costs at the moment. With geofencing, you can control your smart heating in an even smarter and cost-saving way: all you need is the location function of your smartphone to switch the heating on and off if you are within a radius that you define (at least 100 m) of your property when entering or leaving.
Set the radiator thermostats to 17°C when you leave so that rooms are not being unnecessarily heated when nobody is home.
When you leave work, set the thermostats at home to 21°C so that it's warm when you get home.

Do the smart radiator thermostats also work if I switch off the WiFi bridge temporarily?
Yes, the smart radiator thermostats continue to work even if the WiFi bridge (control centre) is switched off. You can carry out the programming in the Hama Home app even without an active connection to the WiFi bridge. However, it should be noted that the thermostats will continue to search for the control centre during this time, which can lead to increased battery consumption.
Can I control the smart heating control with Alexa?
Yes, the smart heating control from Hama is compatible with Alexa. To use this function, simply activate the "Hama Home" skill in the Alexa app. This allows you to connect your Hama Home app user account with Alexa. After this connection, you can conveniently switch the Wi-Fi radiator thermostats on and off by voice command via Alexa.
Do the smart radiator thermostats also work without an active WLAN connection?
Yes, the smart radiator thermostats also work without WLAN. The settings previously programmed in the Hama Home app remain active and continue to be executed even if the Wi-Fi is temporarily switched off. However, it should be noted that remote control or adjustment of the settings via the app is not possible without an active WiFi connection.
Can I set an upper temperature limit for my heating control system to prevent it from being exceeded manually?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to set a maximum temperature limit directly in the current version of the heating control system. However, the Hama Home app offers you a helpful alternative: the "Child safety lock can be activated on the controller" function. If this function is activated, the smart thermostats cannot be controlled manually, which prevents the temperature from being accidentally turned too high. To activate the childproof lock, press and hold the thermostat control dial for about 5 seconds until "LC" appears on the display. To deactivate the childproof lock, press the control dial again for 5 seconds. This function is particularly useful for preventing someone from raising the temperature above a value you have set.
How long do the batteries in the smart radiator thermostats last and is there a notification when the batteries need to be changed?
The service life of the batteries in our smart radiator thermostats depends on how often they are used. Under normal operating conditions, you can expect a service life of around 6 to 8 months. As soon as the battery capacity is running low, you will receive a notification in the Hama Home app. You will also see a battery symbol or notice on the thermostat itself. These functions are available in devices from variant V2 and help you to ensure that the battery is replaced in good time. Rechargeable batteries cannot be used.
What is the maximum number of smart radiator thermostats I can connect to a Hama heating control centre (gateway)?
You can connect up to 10 WLAN radiator thermostats with a single heating control centre from Hama. If you would like to integrate more heating controllers into your system, you have the option of purchasing an additional hub from Hama's technical service. In the Hama Home app, there is no limit to the number of gateways you can add, allowing for flexible expansion of your system.
Is it possible to control the heating directly on the radiator thermostat without using the app?
Yes, you can easily set the heating directly on the radiator thermostat. Simply turn the thermostat to the desired temperature. This manual change is also possible when the time programme is set and is active until the next time the programme mode is changed.
Can I use the smart heating control from Hama with other systems such as Zigbee or Homee?
To get the most out of our smart radiator thermostats, it is essential to use the Hama Zigbee control centre. This ensures smooth and efficient control of your heating system. We cannot guarantee the compatibility of our radiator thermostats with gateways or devices from other manufacturers.
Can I also use a gateway other than the Hama hub?
The use of our smart heating control in your smart home requires the Hama Gateway. This specially developed control centre is already included in the starter set of our smart heating control system and ensures seamless integration and functionality.
Do I need a separate window contact switch for each of my smart radiator thermostats?
No, that's not necessary. With the smart window contact switch from Hama, you have the option of creating a scene in the Hama Home app that links it to several radiator thermostats at the same time. This allows you to control your heating system efficiently and conveniently, for example by automatically lowering all linked radiators as soon as a window is opened.
Which adapters are included in the smart heating control accessories?
The following adapters are included in the scope of delivery for attaching the smart radiator thermostats: Danfoss RAV, Danfoss RA, Giacomini and Caleffi. Please note that the Danfoss adapters must be inserted into the union nut with some force before the thread can be screwed on. With the Giacomini adapter, please note that, contrary to the illustration in the operating instructions, the threaded side should face the thermostat.
Is a second WLAN network required to use the Smart Home heating control in a house with two floors?
No, an additional WLAN network is not absolutely necessary for operating the Smart Home heating control system in a multi-storey house. However, utilisation depends heavily on the range of your existing WiFi network, the distance of the heating control unit to the router and the wall thickness. In some cases, it can be helpful to use WiFi repeaters to improve the WiFi signal strength and range on different floors and thus ensure optimum functionality of the heating control system.
Are firmware updates provided for the Smart Home heating control?
Yes, Hama provides regular firmware updates. These updates can be conveniently downloaded and installed via the Hama Home app. To carry out an update, follow these simple steps:
1. Start the Hama Home app on your smartphone/tablet.
2. Navigate to ""Profile"" -> ""Settings"" -> ""About"".
3. Scroll to the ""Check for updates"" menu item.
4. Follow the instructions in the app to start and complete the update.
By regularly updating the firmware, you ensure that your Smart Home heating system is always up to date in terms of functionality and security.
How exactly can I control the Temperature on the smart thermostat?
The smart heating thermostats from Hama work with an efficient hysteresis of approx. 1.5 °C so that the valve is not opened or closed with every small draught. This means that the valve does not react immediately within a tolerance range of 1.5 °C above or below the set temperature. This means that additional heating is applied only when necessary, and the heating does not operate when the setpoint is maintained.
